Parallel Translate respects and protects your privacy.
1. What we do NOT collect
No registration, no profiles, no browsing-history tracking.
2. How data is processed
Only when you actively trigger it:
- Page / selected text is sent to your chosen service to return a result.
- Local settings & cache stay in your browser.
- API keys are stored locally only.
3. Third-party services
Text is sent to one of the following to return a result:
- Translation engines: Google, Microsoft, or your own AI model.
- Dictionary proxy: a self-hosted Cloudflare Worker.
- Speech: Edge TTS or browser speech.
4. Permissions
The browser permissions we request, and why:
- host_permissions: to render parallel text on the pages you read.
- storage: to keep settings and cache locally.
- activeTab: to translate the current tab when you act on it.
- offscreen: to play pronunciation audio.
5. Retention & deletion
All data lives locally; uninstall to remove it completely.
6. Children's privacy
Not directed at children under 13.
7. Policy updates
Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date.
